A Sonnet Between Lips

Lips purse

Lips lock

Lips turn

Up or down

Lips loosen

Lips tighten

Lips smile

Lips frown

But your lips are so soft that they invite

The oft raging storms of my mind to calm

As days colors dull and turn to the night

My days bumps and bruises; treated with

your balm

Your smile, those upturned lips, inspire daily

Thoughts, poems, stanzas, lines, words and songs

made me wash away a former frailty

Made me correct more than a couple wrongs

As we dance beneath the modern torch lights

As we gallivant in new urban fields

As fingers interlock in grips so tight

We see what new fruit the soil of patience yields

So long as you’re here, Tampa’s where it’s at

lips and teeth lock your tongue, my fave’rite trap

Lips purse

Lips lock

Lips turn

Up or down

Lips loosen

Lips tighten

Lips smile

Lips frown
